IN ANTICIPATION OF THE 71ST FESTIVAL DE CANNES
“Leto” (Summer) movie directed by Kirill Serebrennikov is included into the Official Selection of the 71st Festival de Cannes. A biopic of a Soviet rock legend Viktor Tsoi the real “icon of the 1980s” is a co-production of the Russian Hype Production and the French Kinovista. “Leto” had been successfully announced for the first time for International distribution at the European Film Market in February, 2018. The rights had been bought by the film company Charades. “Leto” will compete for Palme d’Or against 17 movies among them features by Jean-Luc Godard, Spike Lee, Matteo Garrone, Jia Zhang-Ke.
«Calendar» short meter by Igor Poplauhin (28') had been chosen for «Cinéfondation» competition program of the 71st Festival de Cannes. «Calendar» will compete against 17 short meters from 14 countries selected from 2426 features submitted by film schools all over the world. The winners will be awarded at the ceremony on May, 17th at the Bunuel Theatre, Cannes. Igor Poplauhin is known among Russian cinematographers not only as director but as leading tutor of the Moscow New Cinema School as well. Celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2018 «Cinéfondation» is devoted to the search for new directors’ talent, having selected more than 320 films from more than a hundred schools of the world.
