Based on real events. Eight-year-old Nikolai suffers from a congenital illness that leaves him unable to walk or speak. His doctors, and even his own mother, Tatyana, have lost hope of finding a treatment. However, when Tatyana’s new friend, Yuri, tries using his unique physiotherapy techniques on Nikolai, he discovers the boy has an extraordinary gift for music and begins teaching him to play the piano. With each note he learns and every melody he masters, Nikolai’s condition improves. Not only does he gain mobility, but he also blossoms into an exceptional musician. Together, Nikolai and Yuri travel to China to compete in a piano competition, hoping to take the grand prize.
