For an athlete, overcoming fears and weaknesses is the only path to victory.
This film tells the story of legendary Soviet boxer Valery Popenchenko, USSR and European champion, and winner of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. His life was a rollercoaster of highs and lows — from his childhood at the Suvorov Military School in Tashkent and his service as a border guard, to his early victories and setbacks, and his enduring friendship with Dynamo sports society coach Grigory Kusikyants.
