VSTRECHA Film Studio was founded by Natalia Gugueva in 2003 in Moscow. The studio produces documentaries and feature films for theatrical release, festivals, and television. Its main partners include the Ministry of Culture of Russia and several Russian TV channels, such as "Channel One", "Channel Russia", and "Channel Culture". The studio also collaborates with TV channels in Kazakhstan, China, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, and others. Among the studio's notable works are films exploring the lives of prominent figures, including "Gagarin's Smile" (2009), "The Testament: Alexander Zinoviev" (2007), "Who Is This Kusturica?" (2013), "Yury Arabov: Mechanics of Fat" (2007), and "Russian Wife of Pablo Picasso" (2007). However, these films go beyond mere biographies; the filmmakers focus on individuals in extreme situations, addressing fundamental issues of existence such as attitudes toward death, sacrifice, betrayal, the dynamics of relationships, family building, child-rearing, and creative fulfillment. The studio also produces investigative films addressing socially significant issues, such as "Overdrive: Return Point" (2016), "The Mystery of June 22" (2007), and "Heroin: Wind from the South". Additionally, they have created films about the lives of saints and the path to God, such as "Witnesses to Love" (2018). Films from the studio have received numerous awards at both international and national film festivals and have been recognized as multiple laureates and nominees for the TEFI, Laurel Branch, Triumph, Nika, Golden Eagle, and White Elephant national awards.
