Film director and producer Alexey Uchitel founded Rock Films in 1991. The Studio produces both feature films and documentaries. Over the past 33 years, the Studio’s films have received more than 100 awards at different international film festivals and were released in cinemas both in Russia and abroad.
They also have been put up for nominations for the Academy Award (the Oscars), as well as the Golden Globe. Studio’s award titles include The Major (Marche du Film, Cannes) and The Fool by Yury Bykov (Locarno IFF); Captive by Alexey Uchitel (Karlovy Vary IFF, Cottbus FF); The Whaler Boy by Philipp Yuryev (77th Venice Film Festival, Pingyao Film Festival); and many others.
One of the Studio’s priority directions is debut films. Rock Films has discovered a number of young talented directors. The Studio runs a powerful production base, bringing together professional filmmakerscapable of building onthe Studio's traditions to produce full-length fiction and documentary films at an international level.
