The story is based on real events. It tells about the courage inherent in the Russian character through a poignant true story about the difficult fates of children during the Great Patriotic War, focusing on the life of eight-year-old Vitya Gladyshev under German occupation during the Battle of Moscow. Having lost his father and mother, he, along with his brothers and sisters, endured all the trials of wartime – occupation, captivity, hunger, cold, and humiliation. They endured much but did not lose their human dignity, maintaining a deep faith rooted in family, kindness, love for people, and their land. Today, he is 92 years old.
